Copenhagen Primary School, Islington

10 September,2011

22 volunteers gave up their time to help their community for the day.

132 hours served in revitalising Copenhagen Primary School.

3 projects volunteered in throughout the school grounds.

It was a cool Saturday morning when a team of volunteers converged on Copenhagen Primary School in Islington with the goal of revitalising the school as well as the playground. When we arrived we were taken aback by the sheer scale of what had to be done. The huge playground was very overgrown, vegetation was creeping in from every angle, and even the car park had been invaded by weeds and ivy. Our main tasks for the day were to: trim back the vegetation; varnish some of the outside furniture; and paint a playhouse and to make infant playground more colourful. I am pleased to say that the day was a great success and all of our projects being completed to a high standard. The project co-ordinators maintained a high level of energy throughout the day and the feedback that we received from volunteers was overwhelmingly positive.
