City Year London reaches finals of national volunteering awards
06/02/12
City Year London has been named as one of just three finalists in the vInspired national awards.
The annual awards are the largest of their kind, celebrating the achievements and dedication of young volunteers. They aim to challenge negative attitudes towards young people by highlighting the creativity , motivation and generosity of some of the most inspiring young volunteers in the country.
The City Year London team has been nominated as a national finalist for London in the ‘Best Team’ category.
There are countless stories of children who have been completely transformed by the support and understanding of this team.
Team member Michelle Amponsah-Boadu, 23, said: “I’m proud that we’ve been named national finalists for the vInspired National Awards. The children keep us so motivated. We have made promises to them and it’s so important to us that we keep them. My team keeps me motivated too. They are always there to support you. You can have a bad day, but you know they’re working just as hard. They’re always there to keep your spirits up.”
Terry Ryall, vInspired CEO says: “The City Year London team is an inspirational group of young people. Team members have collectively demonstrated amazing dedication to making a positive change for London. They have worked together, sharing ideas, skills and support, to make an impact they could not have achieved on their own. They have changed the world for the better and, I’m sure, will continue to do so for a long time.”
