City Year UK teams up with Aramark to host global ‘work readiness’ volunteer day

On Thursday 17th September, we teamed up with Aramark and two of our partner schools to host a day of activities on the theme of ‘workplace readiness’ as part of its Building Community Day, a global initiative involving more than 200 events and thousands of staff from the international food service company.

Over 300 Year 9 pupils from across William Ellis School in Camden and Holte School in Birmingham were inspired and encouraged to begin to think about the workplace with fun sessions including an interactive business challenge in the style of ‘The Apprentice’, together with workshops advising on themes … Read more ›

Wishing corps members a Happy New City Year!

160 talented and inspirational young people from across the country have embarked on a ‘City Year’ this week, serving for the next 11 months in 24 inner-city schools as role models, mentors and tutors.

Volunteering full-time Monday to Thursday they’ll play a crucial role supporting thousands of pupils in and out of the classroom, helping them to enjoy and make the most of their education.

In return, the 18-24 year olds, known as corps members, will be given personal, professional and leadership development opportunities, with a training and careers programme run every Friday in conjunction with corporate supporters.
