If you would like to be considered for a corps member position you will need to submit a completed application and attend an interview. Download our application form here and email your completed application to Londonrecruitment@cityyear.org.uk.

Application deadlines
We offer places to outstanding candidates throughout the year in advance of our final application deadline, Friday 20 July 2012. Applications are reviewed and candidates are shortlisted in groups periodically during the year based on:

• an applicant’s ability to persuasively demonstrate what they will contribute to the mission of City Year London and gain from participating on the programme.
• the timing of the application (the later you apply, the stiffer the competition for places).

If you have not been shortlisted during your period of submission we may revisit your application in the next pool of applications received. However, please be advised that the volume of applications does increase throughout the year so we encourage you to apply early. In our most recent recruitment campaign we received five applications for every corps member position available. Here’s a list of our remaining deadlines if you would like to be considered for our 2012/13 programme:

Tuesday 31 January (Interviews on Saturday 18 February)
Friday 23 March (Interviews on Wednesday 4 April)
Friday 30 March (Interviews on Wednesday 11 April)
Friday 6 April (Interviews on Wednesday 18 April)
Wednesday 30 May (Interviews on Saturday 9 June)
Friday 20 July, 2012 FINAL SUBMISSIONS (Interviews on Wednesday 25 July, Saturday 30 July, Wednesday 1 August)

We strongly recommend that anyone wanting to volunteer with us should attend at least one information session before applying (further details below). We’d also encourage you to apply early to increase your chances of getting a place.

Applicants from overseas

The vast majority of our volunteers are from the United Kingdom. However, we do consider applicants from overseas, as long as you fit the following criteria:

• Eligible to live and work in the European Union: for more details please visit the UK visa website before applying to City Year London.
• Intend to live in London for at least the period from 28 August 2012-25 July 2013

City Year London is unable to sponsor visa applications for individuals not otherwise eligible to live and work in the European Union. Neither are we able to cover the costs of travelling to London from other cities or countries or accommodation in the UK. Non-EU applicants are unfortunately not eligible unless they have dual citizenship.

Information Sessions

Our information sessions are the perfect opportunity to become more familiar with City Year, our work and the change you can make.

Highlights include:

• Meeting current volunteers, alumni and City Year staff
• Talking to other young people passionate about improving the lives of young Londoners
• Help and guidance with the application form and process

There are information sessions at our offices every Tuesday 9:00-9:30 and every Thursday 16.00-16.30 and 17.30-18.00. To reserve a place at an information session please contact our recruitment team on 020 7014 2680 or e-mail your name and contact details to

If you live outside London and are unable to visit, we are also able to offer telephone information sessions via conference call. Please contact us for details on how to participate in one of these sessions.
