Applications are open for the City Year UK leadership development programme

We’re recruiting the next cohort of passionate and resilient 18 to 25*-year-olds who will give a year to tackle educational inequality across London, West Midlands and Greater Manchester.

Over four million young people are growing up in poverty today. We think this is unacceptable – which is why we’re on a mission to be the change we want to see in our communities.

City Year is a life-changing experience. As well as having a huge impact on the lives of pupils, it’s a year that provides mentors with leadership and employability skills. In fact, 93% of our volunteer mentors go on to full-time employment or education after completing our leadership development programme.

“The networking opportunities I had with leaders in education, FTSE 100 companies and the media were unimaginable before City Year”- City Year UK alumna

Our volunteer mentors come from a wide range of backgrounds but are united in one common goal: to better themselves and to better the lives of pupils facing barriers to success.

Jessica Rexworthy, Recruitment and Strategic Partnerships Manager at City Year UK, said: “We’re really excited to launch our new recruitment campaign and inspire more young people to join City Year UK’s leadership development programme. It’s well known that social action improves the confidence, skills and wellbeing of both participants and beneficiaries, and we’re looking forward to meeting our new, eager cohort and watching them develop throughout the year.”
