“Working as a City Year Mentor is not just about making an impact on others — it’s also about growing as an individual.”
Isha is a City Year Mentor serving on Team Ubuntu, in the West Midlands, 2024-2025.
“Hi, I’m Isha, and I proudly serve at Chivenor Primary School in Birmingham. This year has been full of rewarding moments, but the highlight has been the incredible personal and professional growth I’ve experienced.
One of the most fulfilling parts of my role is the in-class support I provide to students. During maths lessons, I assist in the classroom, while during English, I work one-on-one with students with dyslexia. Helping them overcome challenges and build confidence is a truly meaningful experience.
Another key aspect of my development has been the coaching sessions I receive from my Impact Officer as well as being able to lead target focused team meetings. These sessions have been instrumental in shaping my leadership skills, public speaking and building my confidence.
Working as a City Year Mentor is not just about making an impact on others — it’s also about growing as an individual. I’m so grateful for this opportunity!”
