Team Inspirations’ testimonials
2 of our Team Inspiration Mentors serving at Q3 Academy Langley have written individual testimonials about the positive change they’ve seen in the pupils they’ve mentored.
Raila and MT
“MT started off as a very challenging pupil to work with, I wasn’t aware of what would work with her and how to get her into lessons. Her behaviour at the beginning of year 8 was extremely poor, with her getting isolations and after school detentions nearly every lesson, along with de-q’s (15 minute detenitons) she would get during transitions from classroom to classroom. She would take her time to turn up to lessons or simply just not turn up at all. Within a few months, MT and I worked together on improving her behaviour by simply talking and building a positive relationship. She would then open up to me about her struggles, how she can get restless and lack concentration at times, which has helped in getting her the right support she needed. We also worked to improve her relationships with other teachers and explaining that it is their job to tell her and other pupils what to do and enforce the rules on everyone, not just her. MT slowly but surely came to an understanding of this, and I’ve noticed many positive changes in MT. She is often excited to show me how well she’s done in a lesson, with her frequently receiving a star of the lesson award for her performance and behaviour in the classroom (which is very common for her now in comparison to the start of the year)!”
Saba and TR
“At the beginning of the year, TR would ignore my help and would not want to speak to me. They would ignore my advice regarding their behaviour, work ethic and attendance. As the weeks went on, TR began to respond to me better and would allow me to encourage him in lessons and in the corridors during periods between lessons. TR was not the type to ask for help in lessons, but before Christmas, he began enjoying my presence in the classroom and would allow me to sit down next to him for support. The thing that really showed his progress last term was when he asked me to support him with his maths class after the Christmas break. This really surprised me as he has never openly asked for help!”
