Meet Sharon Webley, City Year West Midlands programme manager
Sharon has had a long career in education working with children and young people to attain and achieve. She is passionate about this goal. As programme manager for City Year West Midlands, Sharon inspires, motivates and leads a team and cohort of 18-25 year olds to be the change they want to see in the world. Each One, Teach One.
- Who is your hero?
Heroes, no, not so much but there are many famous – and not so famous – people I admire, some of whom are not alive today. Right now, I am in awe of US comedian Dave Chapelle, who like Shakespeare’s Fool, urges us towards our socially responsible selves.
- What is the most powerful book you have ever read?
It’s hard to pick one but ‘An Evil Cradling’ by Brian Keenan has stayed with me for decades.
- What is your best career advice?
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” African Proverb.
