Share your giving story this #GivingTuesday
Mark your calendars! Giving Tuesday is back for 2024 and will be celebrated on 3 December. See below how you can get involved and help us tackle educational inequality.
Giving Tuesday – 3 December 2024
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the last decade, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
This Giving Tuesday, we wanted to encourage everyone in our City Year community to share their City Year story and how they give back, and to inspire others to get involved with our cause.
Why support City Year UK?
We believe that every child and young person should have the chance to achieve their full potential. We enable 18 to 25-year-olds to volunteer full-time as City Year Mentors, for a year in schools with a high proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals. Our volunteers have a holistic impact in schools; they are trained and supported to inspire, mentor and tutor children of all ages to overcome social, emotional and academic barriers to learning and, by realising pupils’ potential, realise their own.
Often volunteering in their own communities, our young adults gain real world experience and over 170 hours of dedicated leadership and development training. They leave with standout skills and new networks that set them up for any career.
Our work is now more important than ever. See below for ways that you can get involved. From everyone here at City Year UK, thank you for your continuing support on Giving Tuesday and every other day!
Ways to get involved
Make a donation to support the delivery of our social, emotional and academic coaching and near-peer mentoring programme in schools.
You can also nominate us for the Benefact Group’s #MovementforGood for a chance to become one of the 120 charities to receive a £1000 grant this December. The grant will help us fund the living and travel costs of one of our amazing volunteers.
