City Year UK & the Jo Cox Foundation: More in Common Network event
On the 12th of May, the Jo Cox Foundation held an event in Manchester as part of their More in Common Network. The network aims to bridge community divides by bringing together different, people, charities, and partnerships across the country, that champion Jo Cox’s ‘more in common’ message. City Year UK was one of several collaborative organisations invited to participate in the event.
Our Associate Director of Programmes, Dean Thomas-Lowde, attended on behalf of City Year UK, with a focus on collaboration and building interconnectedness among local organisations. As Jo Cox once said, “We have more in common than that which divides us”. Therefore, hosted by the Jo Cox Foundation and focusing on the More in Common Network, this event highlighted our values of shared commitment to fostering unity and cohesion within our communities.
Dean said about the event, “it is clear that in a time of limited resources and with funding challenges, we need to work to bridge divides, celebrate our shared humanity, and promote mutual understanding and respect, as well as help each other out”.
We’re incredibly proud to be a part of this network, and we’re more committed than ever to our mission of creating a world where everyone feels a sense of identity and belonging. Together, let’s continue to champion unity and collaboration in Manchester and beyond!
