The end of an incredible era working alongside the DHL UK Foundation
Since 2016, City Year UK has been proud to partner with the DHL UK Foundation whose mission is to address inequalities and barriers that affect underserved young people in their access to employment. From day one, our partnership has been grounded in a shared belief in the power of young people and the transformative potential of education.
Over the years, their support has helped us deliver real and lasting impact across London, the West Midlands, and Greater Manchester.
📌Key highlights from our partnership include:
💷Over £1 million in funding to support our work
👧Impacting the lives of 8,981 children
🧑🏫Supporting 1,230 City Year Mentors through leadership and development activities
🤝Over 600 DHL employees (non-unique) volunteering their time and expertise
🎓Helping over 500 young adults achieve accredited qualifications
🏫 Delivering 63 GoTeach sessions in classrooms since 2021
From Bridge Builder mentoring and Mock Interview Days to sessions focused on Logistics Challenges and classroom workshops, DHL employees have played a vital role in developing young leaders and supporting pupils furthest from opportunities in underserved communities.
As this incredible chapter comes to a close, we remain deeply grateful to the entire DHL UK Foundation team, their Trustees, and the hundreds of colleagues across the DHL business for fully embracing City Year UK’s mission and making such a powerful contribution to our work.
Thank you for believing in young people and being part of this journey.
“We are incredibly proud of our long-term partnership with City Year UK, having supported them in their efforts to tackle educational inequality since 2016. During that time, we have seen their commitment to delivering a high quality programme which has a dual benefit – providing invaluable development opportunities and life experiences for their CYUK mentors, and giving extra support to those young people in schools who need it the most. All this helps enrich the educational environment in these schools.
Without a doubt, a key component of our special partnership has been CYUK’s collaboration with DHL employees. Through various activities, DHL employees have shared their skills and experience, offering guidance to CYUK mentors, whether through the Bridge Builder mentoring programme, panel events or mock interviews. We know the significant impact of employer interactions for young people’s development and career trajectory, and are proud that our partnership has provided these opportunities.
We wish the City Year team all the best for the future.” – Caroline Courtois, CEO, DHL Foundation
