1. An introductory line about you.

My name is Akanksha Lall. I am a member of Team Legends and I proudly serve as a City Year mentor at City of London Academy Islington in London.

2. Why did you sign up to City Year UK?

I signed up for City Year because I wanted to make a tangible difference in my community. The prospect of contributing to educational equity and supporting students resonated deeply with my values. I saw an opportunity to channel my skills and compassion into meaningful service, believing that every child deserves an equal chance to succeed. The chance to inspire positive change and be part of a dedicated team working towards a common goal fueled my sense of purpose.

3. What has been your highlight of the year so far?

One of my highlights this year was being able to be a support system for one of the students that are on my focus list. In return, I got told that I was his first listening ear and that I have made him feel very confident and cared about liaising his problems!

4. What are you looking forward to doing with City Year UK in 2024?

In City Year, I’m eagerly anticipating the chance to develop my speaking skills. I’m excited about any public speaking events City Year offers, as they will play a crucial role in enhancing my ability to articulate ideas with confidence and clarity.
